Get a fresh start
she said
It’ll do you good
Start over somewhere new
Such an old story line
Wherever you go you just
bring yourself with you
Not sure a geographic cure
will work
Maybe I stay here and
work through it all
Really how bad can it be
Sooner or later
we have to face things
They don’t go away
Sometimes just
saying it straight
truthful and clear
is the best you can do
It seems I spend all my time
Telling people this
And do I do it myself
Sometimes
"Wherever you go you just
bring yourself with you" ❤
This exact theme was proposed to me in 1969 by a college advisor as I was considering transferring schools. I have thought about - and have been influenced by - the wisdom of these words numerous times throughout my life.
Your poems are universal, Suzanne, speaking of/to the human condition.
