There is too much
on my chopping board
at any one time
to choose a central theme here
Unless perhaps subjugation
of weaker ones darker ones
poorer ones women ones
Ever since I learned to scream loud
I’ve been slipping out from under
the subjugating thumb
trying to hold me down
It took some year to understand
the target on my back
but once learned I can’t look away
Oppression of whoever is most vulnerable
That is the territory of cowards
Those deeply insecure people who
can’t feel in control by any other means
than by controlling someone weaker
It takes a lot of yelling sometimes
to get things turned around
but it is possible
Even a tiny tug can turn
a mighty ship
A skillfully crafted "expression of oppression." Vivid imagery builds to a beacon of light for the multitudes of tiny tugs struggling daily to turn mighty ships. Thank you, Suzanne, for sharing a message of hope which we often lose sight of on our own - overflowing - chopping boards.
